The Art Book Fair

The Book Fair was awesome, once you navigated the crowds.  We ran out of porcupine fish for the sets of 16th-century Creature note cards with assorted colored envelopes, so I went on press and cranked some out…

Letterpress and more Letterpress!

There has been no time to post all the great work being done at the Studio!

Michelle had a tutorial on her Kelsey press, set type, made adjustments, and got rolling!

Jared’s wife came by to check out how the wedding announcements were coming along, and they look beautiful!

More great cards and broadsides from Adventures in Letterpress…

The Polymer class is rolling with great new cards & stationery being printed, and all the Studio artists are busy preparing for the upcoming NY Book Arts Fair this weekend!  More images coming!

Book Fair

The Studio was closed this past weekend as Mindy Belloff participated in the Oak Knoll Book Fest in historic New Castle, Delaware.  Featuring the Goddard Declaration of Independence prints handset and printed in September 2009 and the new contemporary edition that went to press on July 4, 2010.  Mary Katharine Goddard was commissioned by Congress in 1777 to print the Declaration.  This was the second letterpress printing and the first to reveal all the signers’ names.  The recreation by Intima Press is the first contemporary printed edition.  Also featured at the Fair were fine printed editioned books, including books inspired by the poetry of Molly Peacock and Janet Frame, and unique broadsides set in metal and wood type.

It was great to see colleagues and friends and all the wonderful typography and fine letterpress books from the U.K., U.S., Ireland and Canada!

Sunday Brooklyn Book Fair & Letterpress for Fashion Week in NYC

If you are in NYC, please join us this Sunday, September 12 at the Brooklyn Book Fair (Table #133) 10am-6pm (www.brooklynbookfestival.org) – Trains: 2, 3, 4, 5 to Borough Hall; R to Court Street; or A, C, F to Jay Street/Borough Hall.

Also this Fashion Week in NYC we helped out a new Designer show-casing her clothing line.  Mindy Belloff hand-set her cards in Caslon typeface and printed them in a beautiful purple ink on thick, lush paper.

Type locked up on press

Printing Museum Book Fair

This weekend Rich & I took a drive up to Andover for the Book Fair at the Printing Museum.  We had a nice time seeing some friends including Ed & John.  Poor Suki got car sick but he was still his friendly little self!

The presses were a lot of fun and particularly, the linocuts printed with a steamroller truck!  Rich & I had lots of painterly wood type broadsides and artist’s books on display.
